The International and Development portfolio at RMIT University has a major role in delivering services to support the University’s strategic objectives in international education and relations, marketing and communications and the development of global business partnerships.
A central responsibility is the offshore recruitment of international students, who constitute one-third of RMIT’s student body. International Services’ work overseas is complemented by RMIT University International College, which helps prepare prospective international students for successful study at RMIT.
Portfolio staff are engaged with building the University’s global linkages and profile in other ways – receiving overseas guests and delegations, and assisting RMIT students who want to study or undertake internships overseas.

RMIT is renowned for collaborating with industry, providing solutions, new ideas and processes that deliver real outcomes for businesses. Global Business Development, a unit of the International and Development portfolio, liaises with current and potential industry partners, developing research, consultancy and other services that draw on the University’s expertise.
These services are complemented by RMIT’s Marketing and Communications units, which build the University’s distinctive brand and promote staff and student achievements.
RMIT has more than 200,000 alumni, reflecting the diversity in skills and nationalities of the student body over time. The Alumni office issues regular email updates and organises events that bring former students together and that highlight the University’s strengths.
