University wide scholarships

University wide scholarships are open to all students across the University. 

  • Australian Postgraduate Awards (APAs) For local doctoral or masters by research students, or commencing IPRS holders; a stipend of $28,392 per annum, fee-exempt place and other allowances and leave provisions; applications open 1 September 2014
  • Chile Bicentennial Research Scholarship For Chilean research students; worth tuition, travel and study allowance; applications now open.
  • European Union Centre RMIT Travel Assistance Grant The European Union centre at RMIT grants assist with travel costs for HDR candidates to travel to EU member states for the purposes of research; worth up to $6,000; applications currently closed.
  • Higher Degree by Research Conference Grant For research candidates travelling to present at Conferences or workshops of International standing; worth up to $2000.
  • Higher Degree by Research Publications Grant (HDRPG) For research students to financially assist to write publications after thesis/project submission; worth $27,653 annum pro rata; applications open March and August.
  • RMIT PhD International Scholarship (RPIS) For international doctoral or masters by research candidates, a stipend of $28,392 per annum, tuition fees, overseas health cover and other allowances and leave provisions; applications open 1 September 2014
  • RMIT PhD and Masters Scholarship (RPS) For local doctoral or masters by research students, a stipend of $28,392 per annum, fee-exempt place and other allowances and leave provisions; applications open 1 September 2014
  • Vice-Chancellor’s PhD Scholarship (VCPS) For local and international doctoral research candidates; a stipend of $41,150 and an additional $5,000 research support allowance of per annum and other allowances and leave provisions; applications open 1 September 2014; applications open 1 September 2014

  • Clare Burton Scholarship For postgraduate coursework or research degree students undertaking research in gender equity, this scholarship can provide you financial support. If successful, this scholarship pays $10,000 over 12-18 months.

Environment scholarships

  • IICT – RMIT PhD Scholarship Top Indian students who possess the relevant qualifications can apply a for the position of Junior Research Fellowship (RMIT), to undertake an Australian PhD at RMIT and Indian Institute of Chemical Technology Research Centre in Hyderabad, India. Scholarship includes a full waiver of tuition fees and upto $A25,000 for living allowance while studying at RMIT, Melbourne; applications now closed.

Health and medical sciences scholarships

  • PhD Scholarship in High Performance Magnesium Alloys Scholarship for PhD engineering students; worth up to $30,000 per annum; applications close 30 June 2014.
  • PhD Scholarship in electromagnetic radiation research For PhD candidates to undertake research in electromagnetic radiation; worth up to $30,000 per annum; applications close when a recipient is selected.
  • PhD Scholarship in nanoparticle research For PhD candidates to join an ARC funded project; worth up to $30,000 per annum; applications close when a recipient is selected.
