Course Description

In this course you will undertake work placement with a textile company within the fashion and textiles industry. As part of your work placement you will start to build an understanding of the relationships that are integral to a textile company throughout the designing and production cycle. You will develop important communication skills as you start to communicate with various people who work within the fashion and textile supply chain.

Learning Outcomes


On successful completion of this course you will have developed and applied the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate preparing to interact with other in the TCF industry by completing work-placement with company/ies and started to develop a network of industry participants within your chosen area of textile interest.

 

 


Details of Learning Activities

The course content is delivered online over a short series of initial sessions, followed by 40 hours of work placement. Importantly, the days you spend on-site with your selected fashion and/or textile company, will be negotiated between you and the supervising workplace host. Classes are designed to get-you-ready to approach possible placement companies and to ensure you have completed the Work Industry Learning (WIL) paperwork BEFORE attending on site. The 40 hours of work placement will provide you with valuable learning experiences, but also provide the necessary information for you to submit your assessment.

Note: While your on-site work placement experience will cover most the material in this schedule, the weekly order is subject to change depending on individual student needs. One-to-one tutorials and/or small group discussion with your teacher will be arranged by teaching staff to suit your schedule.

Overview of Assessment

This course is assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment. To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete all the assessment to a satisfactory standard.

You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

Competency is achieved only if competency has been demonstrated within the standard enrolment period. Students are advised that they may be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to confirm aspects of competency not evidenced in class or through assessments.
