Vocational education grades
Grading information for 2020
Not Yet Competent (NYC) and Did Not Submit (DNS) grades in 2020
If you receive an NYC or DNS grade for a course in 2020, this will not appear on your academic transcript. These grades will be progressively changed to ‘Withdrawn from course (WDR)’ after results release. Course fees will still apply if you receive an NYC or DNS grade and it's converted to WDR.
Result Not Finalised (RNF) grades
If you can’t complete the full learning requirements for your course in 2020 you will receive a grade of ‘Result Not Finalised (RNF)’.

We’ve simplified the VE grading process
From 1 January 2020, we’ve simplified the way vocational education (VE) students are graded. This is to ensure that all VE students at RMIT are graded consistently.
What’s changed?
Formerly, RMIT had three VE grading schemes. From 1 January 2020, all VE courses will be assessed the same way: as Competent or Not Yet Competent.
If you’ve previously been assessed as Competent or Not Yet Competent, you’ll experience no change.
If you’ve been graded for some courses (such as with Distinction DI or Competent with Distinction CDI), these will now be assessed as Competent CA or Not Yet Competent NYC.
From 1 January 2020, a GPA will no longer appear on official transcripts or in Enrolment Online.
VE pathways into higher education programs
RMIT VE students completing their program in Semester 1 2020 will no longer require a GPA for admission into the relevant RMIT higher education program.
If you’re transferring to another education provider after 1 January 2020, we recommend contacting the provider to discuss entry requirements.
