Course Description

In this course you will develop the skills and knowledge required to work effectively in the creative arts industry. This applies to any field of the arts industry and is relevant to people in a wide range of occupations, for example, dancers, musicians, actors, cabaret performers, street performers, entertainment administrators, reviewers, film makers and public artists.

Details of Learning Activities

In class activities will include a range of teacher directed  activities, projects, class exercises, review discussions/lectures and independent project based work.

Overview of Assessment

Assessment for this course is ongoing throughout the semester. Your knowledge and understanding of course content is assessed through participation in class exercises, oral/written presentations and through the application of learned skills and insights. Full assessment briefs will be provided and can be found on CANVAS.


Assessment Tasks

To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete the following assignments to a satisfactory standard. You will receive feedback on all assignments and once you have demonstrated competency you will also receive a result after your final assignment.

Assessments

  • Industry1of3: Trends, technology, action! - Create a digital CV and apply research of current industry trends and new technologies to your own work practise. 
  • Industry2of3: Connecting with industry - Connect with industry by participating in a production within the wider screen and media industry. This may also be achieved as a class-simulated exercise. You will initially negotiate an employment contract, establish communication with relevant stakeholders and continue the relationship throughout the production.
  • Industry3of3: Knowing the screen and media industries -  Perform primary research and demonstrate knowledge, of the screen and media industries.
