Overview of Assessment

This course is assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment. To demonstrate competency in this course you will need to complete all the assessment to a satisfactory standard.

You will receive feedback from the teacher at the conclusion of each assessment task.

Competency is achieved only if competency has been demonstrated within the standard enrolment period. Students are advised that they may be asked to personally demonstrate their assessment work to confirm aspects of competency not evidenced in class or through assessments.

Results for this course are delivered and assessed in accordance with competency-based assessment are:
CA: Competency Achieved
NYC: Not Yet Competent
DNS: Did not Submit for Assessment

If you have a long term medical condition and/or disability it may be possible to negotiate to vary aspects of the learning or assessment methods. You can contact the program coordinator or Equitable Learning Services if you would like to find out more.

Assessment Tasks

1.  Textile Product Research and Textile Product Proposal  DUE week 4

You will conduct research into current trends influencing Textile Products and prepare a Research document detailing your findings.  Based on Research you will prepare a Textile Production Proposal defining a range of (2) Textile Products you will produce.  This assessment deals with the initial Research and the Textile Product Proposal Snapshot.

2.  Textile Portfolio and Textile Product Proposal 2.0 DUE week 8

The aim is to learn about the technical considerations involved with printing a multiple colour repeat pattern and involves accurately converting designs into artwork on film that can be exposed photographically. Advanced workstation set up, including table prep, stop setting, strike off and selecting appropriate substrate/s will be demonstrated. The project will equip you with the skills and knowledge needed to prepare and print yardage on appropriate substrates in accordance with OH&S.

3.  Textile Product DUE week 15

You will design and develop a range of (2) Textile Products.  You will prepare a Technical File compiling all production resources, specification sheets, design specifications, material resources related to production.

Assessment Matrix

The assessment matrix demonstrates alignment of assessment tasks with the relevant unit of competency. These matrices are available through Program Administration (or Program Coordinator)
