Tell us about your new job/what you have been doing since completing your Diploma:

I am continuing my studies with RMIT University and am studying a Bachelor of Youth Work and Youth Studies full time. I also work part time at Headspace as a Youth Peer Worker, working on a re-engagement project for young people who disengaged from Headspace services during 2020.

What led you to seeking careers support?

I sought career support multiple times, to seek feedback on my resume, get advice on further study and to prepare for the job interview for my current role.

What did you find most helpful about the careers session/s?

The feedback on my resume and job interview preparation with Caitlyn was incredibly helpful. Doing a practice interview beforehand gave me a lot more confidence when going into the job interview and really helped prepare me for the questions that might be asked. I definitely feel that it was a big contributor to my success in the interview and that I might not have gotten the job without it!

What advice would you give to other VE students looking to take their next step (in either study or work)?

Take advantage of the supports you can get from RMIT! Talking with the careers team about further study provided clarity on what degree was right for me and now that I’ve begun Higher Ed, I’m confident I made the right choice. If you’re unsure about a job application or an upcoming interview, get in contact with the careers team and ask for feedback, it may help get you your next job.
