Careers Consultant Appointments

If you’re an RMIT vocational education (VE) student (completing Certificates I-IV, Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Associate Degree, Apprenticeship or Traineeship), you can access free, one-on-one consultations with a VE Career Consultant for tailored career advice and ongoing support.

Our team of skilled Careers Consultants and our Employment Officer are ready to help you achieve your goals and kick-start your career.

What support is available from a Careers Consultant?

You can access support and guidance that will help you achieve job-ready essentials:

  • Help you define your career goals
  • Prepare a tailored resumé and cover letter
  • Assist you with your job applications
  • Match you to any suitable vacancies available 
  • 'Meet the Employer' events
  • Help you prepare for interviews
  • Help you with your next study pathway options (i.e move from Certificate IV to Diploma or Diploma to Higher Education courses)
  • Book you into useful job-readiness workshops

RMIT teaching staff

The staff within the Vocational Education Career Support team offer in-program workshops unique to all RMIT vocational education courses. During these sessions, qualified Careers Consultants talk with students and answer their work-related questions. These discussions are tailored to individual cohorts and include: 

  • Industry-specific career advice 
  • Pathways to employment  
  • Tips for standing out in the relevant field
  • Pathways from vocational education to higher education
  • Employment opportunities, current careers, who is hiring
