Therapy dogs, bubble tea and enrolment help: Study break sessions that have it all

Therapy dogs, bubble tea and enrolment help: Study break sessions that have it all

Assessment period is well and truly here. While this can be a stressful time, RMIT’s got plenty to help take the edge off.

International students in the College of Business and Law have been enjoying refreshing and uplifting Study Break Sessions at the new “Time Out” student lounge in Building 80, ft. therapy dogs!

In-between pats and cuddles with therapy dogs, students can connect with academic and professional staff who can help with preparing students 2023 enrolment, provide advice on course selection and timetable options for next year; leaving students at ease over the summer break.

The sessions also offer a chance to enjoy some free food and refreshments, play a round of table tennis, meet other students and find out about internship and career opportunities.

HR management student Silas’ highlight of the day was meeting some new furry friends.

“They're so cute and fluffy! They’ve helped take the focus away from study, for a little bit at least!” he said.

Dillon, studying international business, said the session was a good distraction from his looming back-to-back assessments and helped to manage stress.

“This has definitely helped with assessment stress. Being able to take a break like this for a couple of hours means I’m not thinking about work or assessments!"

Chelsey, also studying international business, said the change of environment away from her computer screen gave her the chance to meet new people, something she found helpful.

Everyone here is so uplifting; it’s really encouraging during this busy period.

Sohil echoed this and noted that the event provided a great change of scene from study sessions for his information systems assessments, at RMIT’s library.
