Students celebrate RUSU’s Multicultural Festival

RUSU's Multicultural Festival was back and brighter than ever with events held across Melbourne campuses.

RUSU's Multicultural Festival is back in 2023 with a series of events at our Melbourne campuses.

With over 125 countries represented among RMIT’s enrolled student body, Multicultural Festival was a chance for students to celebrate diverse cultures at RMIT with music, food and performances.

We spoke to RMIT students asked them why they think the festival is so important.

Students enjoyed an array of delicious food and activities at RUSU's Multicultural Festival.

"I think it’s cool because Melbourne is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, so it’s good that RMIT reflects that in our study body," said RMIT Volunteer Lily.

"It’s great for students to try new dishes and experience different aspects of cultures that they may not have tried before."

Students were treated to a selection of international foods including curries and noodles, and could have their hands painted with henna designs.

Violet repsented the Hong Kong Student Association on the day, sharing flash cards that describes different slang Hong Kong students use.

"There’s so many different cultures repsentated at RMIT, so the festival is really helping the local Australian students to connect with international students which is really important."
