Recognitions and Community Impact
Mustafijur's work has garnered numerous awards, including the People’s Choice Award at RMIT’s Storytelling for Impactful Research (STIR) competition for his talk on pioneering nerve disease treatment.
He also won the People’s Choice Award in RMIT's Three Minute Thesis competition, alongside other recognitions like the Australasian Society for Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering (ASBTE) awards.
Most recently, Mustafijur earned the ASBTE Conference Attendance Award to present his research in the 2025 Annual Conference in Brisbane.
Additionally, he has won three ‘Best Poster’ awards from various conferences.
"These awards motivate me and improve my ability to communicate complex ideas to broader audiences," he remarked.
Beyond research, Mustafijur actively contributes to the HDR community at RMIT, serving as an HDR representative and mentor.
"Serving on the RMIT Academic Board and research committees has provided invaluable insights and opportunities to advocate for the HDR community," he stated.
He has co-authored six journal articles during his PhD, including five as first author.
A Vision for the Future
Mustafijur aims for his work to significantly impact peripheral nerve treatment.
My goal is to make recovery from nerve damage possible, enabling people to regain function and lead fuller lives.
He envisions his conduit offering hope for patients such as accident victims and those with diabetes or paralysis.
For aspiring HDR candidates, he advises staying organised, engaging with supervisors, and using available resources at RMIT.
"Research is a long journey, and having a support network can make all the difference. Above all, prioritise your wellbeing; this is a marathon, not a sprint."
