Melbourne City and Bundoora
This double degree is the first of its kind in Australia and capitalises on the demand in the Australian food industry for food technologists with strong business management and marketing skills.
You'll gain the technical knowledge to work in the food industry and the management and marketing skills to design and promote innovative products.
Combining food technology and business, the program will develop professionals with the scientific knowledge essential for advancing technological capabilities and the international business, economic and financial analytical knowledge to perform high-level management analyses with a global perspective.
You will be able to manage large-scale food processing companies with a global operational focus to make Australian manufacturing more competitive.
International student visa holders can only study full-time.
The first half of Food Technology program is conducted on the City campus and the second half on the Bundoora campus.
The Business program is based on the City campus.
RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, seminars, studios, workshops, presentations, group discussions and syndicate work. These are primarily in English.
You'll have access to online resources through the myRMIT student portal.
Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes examinations, essays, reports, oral classes, presentations, group projects, research projects, laboratory projects and practical assignments.

Graduates have found work with large food companies such as Mondelez, Simplot, Fonterra, Cadbury, Uncle Toby's and HJ Heinz, in areas such as research and design, quality assurance, marketing and management.
Professional recognition and accreditation
Graduates are eligible for membership with the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST) and the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI).
