HDR orientation events

As a new research student there is a lot to discover. These orientation events are designed to help you settle into life at RMIT.

If you are a commencing Higher Degree by Research student, it's highly recommended that you attend the following events early in your candidature.

1. HDR Getting Started Information Session

At this information session, you will hear about:

  • Scholarship payments
  • Enrolment changes
  • The structure of your degree
  • Progress reviews
  • Supervisor expectations
  • Coursework requirements and mandatory training
  • RMIT policies
  • Ethics and research integrity

Date: Last Thursday of each month from February to November

Duration: 1 hour

Location: Online via Microsoft Teams

Note: Registration is via the Research Plus platform. You will need to log in with your RMIT ID and password to access.

2. HDR Welcome Event

Start your degree with our welcome to all new research students.

At this event you will:

  • Be welcomed by the Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research Training and Development
  • Be inspired and prepared for your research journey by an academic leader
  • Hear from other research students about their experience
  • Connect with peers who have started at a similar time to you

Date: April and August

Duration: 1.5 hours

Location: Melbourne City campus and online via Microsoft Teams
