Starting your tertiary studies is an important and exciting moment and we're committed to providing you with the information, support and resources you need to succeed from day one.
That's why, RMIT students are expected to complete mandatory modules as part of your introduction to the RMIT community. These modules provide important information on academic integrity, respectful behaviour and key supports that help you succeed at university.
Completing them helps you understand your responsibilities and the values of the RMIT community, and supports a positive experience for everyone at RMIT.
If you started your studies in 2026, the modules will be automatically added to your Canvas after you've enrolled in your classes. Find and complete them via your Canvas dashboard (login required).
You must complete the modules by the end of your first semester or teaching period. Some students who haven’t completed the modules by this deadline will be blocked from adding to their enrolment.
If you commenced at RMIT before 2024 you may complete the versions of the modules for continuing students, available in the Canvas Catalogue.
To complete them, manually enrol into the modules via the Catalogue and complete them once they appear in your Canvas dashboard.
Enrol in the modules as a continuing student:
If you started your studies this year and you don’t complete the modules by the end of your first semester or teaching period, you won’t be able to add to your enrolment.
You should aim to complete the modules before your classes start or as soon as possible to avoid delays when you next enrol.
The following cohorts are exempt from the enrolment block:
For new students, the Academic Integrity Awareness and Sex and Consent modules are located on the Dashboard page within your Canvas environment.
There are two ways to find these courses:
Standard dashboard view: In the standard dashboard view, students can see all the Canvas courses they’re enrolled in. The modules will appear here.
Canvas Dashboard - Courses Menu Item: If students are using an alternative dashboard view, they can navigate to their enrolled modules by clicking the “Courses” item in the left-hand navigation menu and selecting the relevant module from the subsequent pop-out menu.
If you're an associate degree, HE undergraduate and postgraduate by coursework student, graduate certificate graduate or graduate diploma student who started your studies at an Australian campus this year and you can't see the modules in your Canvas dashboard, contact Student Connect.
If you commenced your studies before 2024, you won't see the modules in your Canvas dashboard, you will not be blocked from enrolling in future classes if you don’t complete them and you don't need to take any action.
The Academic Integrity Awareness and Sex and Consent modules each have different completion requirements.
Academic Integrity Awareness
This module includes three compulsory sections that test your knowledge of the content, as well as three optional sections. To complete the module, you must get full marks on the quiz at the end of each section.
After you have completed the three compulsory sections, you will be able to access the final assessment. You must score 15 on the final assessment to complete the module overall.
Sex and Consent
To complete Sex and Consent, you must achieve a passing score of 90. To achieve this you must engage with all the module content, complete the knowledge check scenarios throughout, complete the final quiz and exit the course.
In this course you will work your way through three modules.They are:
At the end of the module you will need to complete a short final completion quiz. Once you have completed all of your learning, return to the course navigation and select the quiz. You will only be allowed one attempt. Once you have submitted a response to each question you will have completed this course.
Once you have completed the module in full the 'congratulations' page appears.
You’ll know you’ve successfully completed the modules when you reach the confirmation of completion page at the end of each.
Once you’ve completed the modules, you’ll be able to navigate to enrolment online to add to your enrolment.
You don’t have to notify anyone at the University that you’ve completed your modules.
The Sex and Consent module It provides learning content associated with sex, consent, porn use, sexual harm, assault and gender-based violence.
RMIT acknowledges that some students may find the content in this module distressing.
The module begins with a short survey where you can choose whether to start the course, or not to proceed with it.
Please note, the enrolment block will remain in place until you complete the Academic Integrity Awareness module.
Once you complete a module, the course will remain visible on your Canvas dashboard. If you’d like to remove it:
The course will still be accessible via Courses > All Courses in the left-hand navigation, but it will no longer appear on your dashboard.
You must complete the Research Integrity and Respectful Research Training (HDR) modules before your Confirmation of Candidature.
You must also complete any university‑wide mandatory modules that appear on your Canvas Dashboard, such as Academic Integrity Awareness and Sex and Consent.
Evidence of completion must be included in your confirmation submission.
