RedActs presents Heathers: The Musical

RMIT’s drama club, RedActs, are excited to perform their newest show, Heathers: The Musical this November.

Co-Directors Jack Linke and Charlotte Sherlock have found that getting involved in club life at RMIT has improved their uni experience immensely.

“It’s such a good anchor point for a social life,” said Jack.

“In some of my classes you’ll go through the course and maybe make friends with the people you sit next to, but then once the semesters over you never see them again.”

“Here, we see each other every Monday night for three hours, maybe more if we go to grab drinks or watch a movie afterwards.”

Charlotte, who is also the Vice President of the club, has been a member of the club since it was founded last year.

“I haven’t really known uni without this club.”

“I was prepared to not talk to anyone and just be quiet in the corner, but within weeks I was Vice President, and we were putting on our first show,” said Charlotte.

“Everyone wants to be there, everyone’s passionate”

Each production has been completely student run, allowing for multitudes of avenues to get involved and participate in major projects.

Students can get involved no matter their experience or interests, with opportunities to act, sing, write, direct, and even work behind the scenes or backstage.

Jack’s inspiration to direct Heathers came from acting in last semester’s original play I’ve Said Too Much, which was written and directed by Jakob Schuster and club president Finn Corr.

“Watching the pride and joy they got out of directing - I wanted that.”

Charlotte and Jack are encouraging anyone with any interest to sign up to the club next year.

“In between productions we run a few weeks of workshops, exercises - mostly improv games.”

“It’s a way for people who are curious about the club to come and meet everybody, experience the vibe and get to know the space.”

Heathers: The Musical will be performed on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of November at the Kaleide theatre at RMIT’s City Campus. Follow @rmitredacts on Instagram for more updates about the show.
