New eats on campus in 2026!

From Taiwanese fried chicken to toasties, burgers to cold brew – an array of new food and drink options have opened across all RMIT campuses.

Seeking sustenance between your study sessions? You don’t need to venture far, a smorgasbord of new beverage and food options have recently opened across RMIT’s City, Brunswick and Bundoora campuses.

J&G Taiwanese Fried Chicken  

Location: Building 10, RMIT City campus, 330-334 Swanston St, Melbourne 

Legendary Taiwanese fried chicken shop J&G Chicken have opened their first Australian store at RMIT Building 10 on Swanston Street – and the lines are already out the door! Head in for crispy fried chicken bites, waffle fries and squid tempura.

DISCOUNT: Until 31 March, show your RMIT student or staff ID to receive 5% off the entire menu.

College Dropout Burgers Pop-Up 

Location: Bowen St, RMIT City campus 

Specialising in American-style burgers with a creative twist, the College Dropout pop-up is on Bowen Street for a limited time only. Don’t miss out on classic hamburgers, loaded fries and thickshakes, plus a changing array of mouth-watering monthly specials.

Assembly Coffee Cart (plus cafe coming soon!) 

Location: Rear of Building 1 (near University Lawn), RMIT City campus  

Melbourne coffee specialists Assembly have a new brew cart located at Building 1, perfect to keep you caffeinated between classes. They’re open from 8am to 2pm, weather permitting.

Better yet, the official Assembly coffee shop will be opening in the Building 1 cafe space at the end of March. Expect top quality coffee (of course) plus pastries, snacks and sweets.

Location: Building 515, level 1, RMIT Brunswick campus. You can also find Flying Turtle machines at City campus in buildings 7, 8, 10, 56, 80 and 94, and Bundooora campus in buildings 201, 202, 251, and 253

Brunswick's is welcoming its first Flying Turtle, a fully automated beverage machine with more than 180 hot, cold and blended drinks to choose from. It can pour you everything from an iced matcha to Thai milk tea, sparkling yuzu soda to smoothies in flavours like Oreo and strawberry cheesecake.

FREEBIES AND DISCOUNTS: There are 100 x Free Drink coupons and 100 x $2 off coupons available for students. Grab a coupon from the RUSU Info Counter in Building 514, Brunswick campus until stock runs out!

Location: In front of Building 254, Bundoora East campus

Student-run business Brew Labs in now serving up coffee, matcha, muffins and toasties from their adorable coffee caravan on Bundoora East campus. Swing past for sips and snacks from 8am-3pm.

Assembly Cafe

Location: Building 1, RMIT City campus

Assembly Cafe is opening in Building 1 at the end of March. Whilst works to refresh the space into a vibrant hub for connection on campus are underway, check out their coffee cart in the Building 1 courtyard (see above for info).

 
Amie Bakery

Location: RMIT City campus

Famous for their Banh Mi made with fresh ingredients, Amie Bakery will open at City campus after the Easter break.
