Neurodivergence Study Sessions

Library Study Support, ELA and RUSU are running sensory-sensitive study sessions this semester.

Library Study Support, ELA and RUSU are running sensory-sensitive study sessions that are tailored for students who identify as neurodivergent. These sessions will have Library and Academic Skills specialists available with expertise in research, referencing, English language, writing skills, math and science queries, or study techniques.

This is what students can expect from these sessions

  • Calm space
  • Dimmed lights
  • Quietness (but not dead silence)
  • Space to spread out in a large room
  • Structured breaks
  • Healthy snacks and some sensory toys

What are Neurodiverse Study Sessions?

  • A supportive group study session – write, read, research, organise (whatever you need to focus on) with a bunch of people who have study goals.
  • Writing is broken up into short bursts of 25 minutes with a break in between (The Pomodoro Technique).

What Neurodiverse Study Sessions are not

  • A taught course or educational session on how to write.
  • Competitive, ego-filled or critical. Students can write and study in a friendly environment.
