You can search for and view programs (degrees/certifications) and courses (subjects) from 2026 onwards in the online RMIT Handbook (also known as the Curriculum Catalogue).

Looking for program and course guides from before 2026?

If you're a current RMIT student or staff member and are looking for course guides from 2006-2025, you can find them in the Course Guides Archive (log in with your RMIT ID and password). If you’re not a current RMIT student or staff member, please contact RMIT University Archives.

If you're looking for something from 2005 or earlier, go to RMIT Library and search for courses or programs.

About program and course guides

Please note: RMIT uses the term 'program' to mean the accreditation you are studying (e.g. Bachelor of Business, Diploma of Building and Construction) and the term 'course' to mean the subjects you study within your program (e.g. Current Issues in Marketing, Ecological Economics).

Program guides

In each program guide, you will find:

  • Program details (award title, study level, campus, college, etc) 
  • Overview, including program purpose and duration 
  • Learning and assessment, including learning outcomes 
  • Entry requirements, including prerequisites 
  • Pathways and careers 
  • Plan structure, including information about majors and minors and contact details for program enquiries 
  • Student resources

Program guides are useful for: 

  • Understanding what you’ll learn as part of the program 
  • Exploring options in your program such as majors, minors and/or electives 

Course guides 

In each course guide, you will find: 

  • Course description 
  • Credit points 
  • Assumed knowledge (including any requisite courses) 
  • Overview of learning activities 
  • Course learning outcomes 
  • Overview of assessment

Class guides

Class guides contain more detailed information about the teacher, campus, contact hours, assessment tasks and resources. 

How to find class guides: 

  • Go to the relevant course guide 
  • Navigate to Course Offerings (see screenshot to right/below)
  • If class guides are available, they will be hyperlinked in the Class Number column. Can’t see the class guide? Check back closer to the class start date.

Class guides are useful for: 

  • Understanding what skills you will learn in the course 
  • Understanding class formats (face-to-face, online, etc) and assessments

Navigating the Handbook

Search

Use the search bar in the Handbook/Curriculum Catalogue to search for programs and courses (see screenshot to right/below). 

You can search using: 

  • Program name (eg. Bachelor of Commerce) 
  • Program code (eg. BP357) 
  • Course name (eg. Banking and Finance Law) 
  • Course ID (eg. 056737) 
  • Key words (eg. Law). 

To narrow search results, use program: or course: before your search term (eg. program:BP354). 
 

Time filter 

Use the time filter in the top righthand corner to filter by semester or year (see screenshot to right/below).
 

Browse by study type or study area

Click on the tiles to browse programs and courses by study type or area. You can also use the tiles to view Majors and Minors or Courses only (see screenshot to right/below).

Filters 

After you search or click on a tile, you can use the left hand side filter menu to further refine your results (see screenshot below).

Frequently asked questions

Check you have entered the program or course name or code correctly into the search bar. If the program or course isn’t appearing in your search results, try using a keyword instead. Check you have selected the correct time filter in the top righthand corner.

If you still can’t find the program or course, contact your College for course and program advice

If class guides are available, they will be hyperlinked in the Class Number column in your course guide. If you can’t see the class guide, check back closer to the class start date. Class guides are only added shortly before classes commence.

Yes, course and class guides can be accessed from links on your program plan structure page.
