Back into full swing: O Week marks the start of a new semester

New and returning VE and HE students have braved the wintery conditions over the past two weeks at a series of O Week events to celebrate the start of Semester Two.

Held across the three Melbourne campuses, VE and HE O weeks provided the perfect opportunity for new and returning students to ease into the new semester and life at RMIT.

Despite the wind and rain threatening to hamper spirits over the past fortnight, students turned out in strong numbers as they enjoyed the traditional Welcome to Country ceremonies before taking part in on campus festivities.

The RMIT O Week experience includes delicious free food, with a series of caterers on hand, while students also treated to live music, interactive activations from RMIT partners and a wide selection of stallholders and entertainment.

O Week also includes an opportunity for students to meet their classmates and teachers at program inductions, and get to know their campus at student-led tours.

Deputy Vice Chancellor VE & Vice President Mish Eastman was on hand to greet students at the VE Carlton Event on July 4.

“Welcome to semester two for all students who are starting with us,” she said.

Welcome to orientation, we hope that you enjoy your studies and it's lovely to have you in our community.

The City campus was packed out on Thursday as Bowen Street came to life with students lining up to get their free sketch done by a caricature artist, create floral arrangements with Gathermore Floral Events and met likeminded students under the new Chill Out marquee.

Check out some of the highlights below, be sure to get involved in upcoming events and activities!
