At RMIT, a range of support services are available to students both during and outside study periods and semesters.

At RMIT, support – including wellbeing, emergency and study support – is available to students both during and outside of study periods and semesters.

We understand that sometimes, personal circumstances or events outside of your control can impact your life and studies.

We're committed to providing a range of support and services, so you can access the help you need, whenever you need it.

Access support

  • Student Welfare Advisors – provide support and advice about personal and academic concerns. They can also link you to other services at RMIT, depending on your needs. 
  • RMIT Counsellors – offer free and confidential mental health and counselling support. You can book an appointment online. If you need urgent mental health support, please call 1300 305 737 or text 0488 884 162 (available 24/7).  
    • International students based outside Australia can call the 24/7 Health & Support Line offered by Medibank +61 2 8905 0307.
  • Multifaith Chaplains – are trained multi-faith spiritual advisers who provide support to students and staff of all faiths and provide guidance to those who identify as secular. 
  • Safer Community – provide support for those personally experiencing unwanted, uncomfortable or threatening behaviour. This includes threats or hate speech, discrimination, assault, stalking, image-based abuse or family violence
  • Extensions and special consideration – if circumstances outside your control impact your studies, you can access adjustments to your assessments 
  • If you have any concerns or questions relating to your studies, please discuss them with your Course or Program Coordinator. Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates, please contact your supervisor.
