About

Amir Ebrahimi is a Senior Research Fellow in the School of Engineering at RMIT University, Australia. His research focuses on microwave and RF engineering, with expertise spanning microwave sensing, metasurfaces and frequency-selective surfaces, conformal and beamforming antennas, wireless power transfer, and radar and communication systems for next-generation wireless applications. His work bridges fundamental electromagnetic theory with practical technologies for advanced sensing, intelligent RF systems, and resilient communication platforms.

He received his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics Engineering and Master of Engineering in Microelectronics with first-class honours. He was awarded the prestigious International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) and Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) to undertake his PhD at the University of Adelaide, where he completed his doctoral research in microwave engineering. During his PhD, he was also a Visiting Research Fellow at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

Dr Ebrahimi’s research has received several recognitions, including the Best Paper Award at the 2024 Asia–Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC), the IEEE MTT-S Australia Young Professional Best Paper Award, the Gertrude Rohan memorial prize and medal, and DR Stranks Medal.

He serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Microwave Theory and Techniques and is actively involved in the IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society through conference organisation, technical committees, and editorial activities. His research aims to advance intelligent electromagnetic systems that integrate sensing, communication, and adaptive functionality for applications ranging from healthcare and advanced manufacturing to space technologies.
