How to report safety concerns to RMIT

Safety starts with you. Whether it's a physical hazard, a wellbeing concern or behaviour that doesn't feel right, know which system or service to use to get help or make a report.

SafeZone: For emergencies on campus

Students, staff and contractors can use SafeZone to connect directly with Campus Security, first aid and other support, while you are on campus.

It's a free app available for download through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Use SafeZone for:

  • Emergency assistance from a Campus Security guard, if you're in immediate danger  
  • First-aid, if you or someone else needs urgent medical assistance
  • Security escorts and location tracking, if you're alone on campus at night

Safer Community: Get support for unwanted behaviour

Safer Community is a confidential, free service available to RMIT students and staff who are seeking support for, or to report experiences of, violence, concerning, unwanted, inappropriate or threatening behaviour, either on- or off-campus.

Safer Community's advisors are trained specialists who provide trauma-informed and person-centred support for:

  • Bullying, stalking and catfishing
  • Gender-based or family violence 
  • Hate speech and discrimination

SafetyNow: Report physical and psychosocial risks and incidents

Students and staff can log in to SafetyNow using your RMIT credentials to report risks or incidents that impact physical and emotional health and wellbeing, including:

  • Trips, slips, cuts or falls
  • Incorrectly stored equipment
  • Excessive workload demands
