RMIT University congratulates alumni and staff who have received 2024 King's Birthday Honours.

The 2024 King’s Birthday Day Honours awarded on Monday 10 June showcased the range and depth of impact that RMIT alumni, staff, donors and partners have on the Australian community. 

 

Captain Benjamin Favelle RAN (Graduate Diploma in Integrated Logistics Management)

Awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross for outstanding devotion to duty as Captain Defence Marine Support Services Group.


Mr Bassir Qadiri OAM (Advanced Diploma of Interpreting)

Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the multicultural community of Victoria.


Ms Carolyn Ingvarson OAM (Diploma of Professional Writing & Editing)

Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to conservation, and to the community of Boroondara.


Ms Donna Hope OAM (Bachelor of Arts (Public Relations))

Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the people and Parliament of Victoria, and to bowel cancer awareness.


Professor Jane Tomnay AM (Graduate Diploma in Advanced Psychiatric Nursing) (Master of Health Science (Psychiatric Nursing))

Awarded the Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to sexual and reproductive health medicine, and as a mentor.


Mr Jason Loos PSM (Master of Business Administration)

Awarded the Public Service Medal for outstanding public service in the commercial structuring and delivery of infrastructure projects.


Sir Jonathan Mills AC (Master of Arts (Interior Design) (Doctor of Arts)

Awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia for eminent service to international cultural leadership and diplomacy, to the performing arts, to philanthropic ventures, and to tertiary education.


Mrs Susan Ferguson OAM (Bachelor of Applied Science (Chiropractic))

Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to community health.


Ms Kay Taranto OAM (Associate Diploma of Business (Legal Practice))

Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to animal welfare.


Mr Noel Clement OAM (Maste of Social Science (Policy & Management)) (Bachelor of Arts (Social Work))

Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community through charitable organisations.


Ms Suzanne Ardagh AM (Master of Business Administration)

Awarded the Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to business, to the arts, and to the community.


Chief Petty Officer William Carter OAM (Advanced Diploma of Aviation Maintenance Management (Avionics))

Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for performance of duty in the field of Navy Aviation Engineering and operational deployment support.


Ms Elisabeth Jackson OAM (Associate Diploma of Librarianship)

Medal of the Order of Australia for service to history preservation organisations, and to the community.

Awarded the Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to the Australian Football League as a player and administrator, to men's health, and to the community.


Emeritus Professor Elivio Bonollo AM

Awarded the Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to tertiary education, particularly industrial design research and development.


Emeritus Professor Thea Brown AM

Awarded the Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to social welfare, particularly through family violence and child protection research.


Dr Luz Restrepo OAM

Awarded the Member of the Order of Australia for service to the multicultural community of Victoria.


Emeritus Professor Michael Buxton AM

Awarded the Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to urban and environmental planning, to tertiary education, and to the community.
