Completion and graduation

Information for Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates on completion and graduation.

Notification of completion

Once you lodge your final archival thesis or dissertation to the School of Graduate Research via the Candidate Centre in Enrolment Online, a recommendation will be made to the Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research Training and Development (ADVC RT&D) of the School of Graduate Research (SGR) that you be formally admitted to the degree.

You will lose access to your student email address following graduation, therefore it is extremely important that you keep your personal email up to date in the RMIT system.

You’ll be issued a digital transcript (which states your completion date) automatically and free of charge via My eQuals. If you require a Statement of Academic Completion, you can order this via Statement of Academic Completion.

Graduation

Learn about graduation ceremonies, dates and options on the Graduation page.

Up to two weeks after your graduation, your digital academic statements, i.e. Testamur, transcript and Australian Higher Education Statement (AHEGS), will be available online via My eQuals. You can also purchase a hard copy of your Testamur on the Academic transcripts page.

Please note that your degree must be conferred before you can begin to use the title of Dr.
