Library staff will look for these items at our Library sites. The process may take 2-3 weeks for the items to be removed from your records.

Disputed returns FAQ

During the disputed returns process, the item remains on your record and may become overdue. Since overdue notices are sent out automatically for all overdue items, you will continue receiving them until the resolution.

Yes, once you report the disputed return item to us, you will be able to borrow for 28 days (4 weeks), provided the item in question is not more than six months overdue. To borrow, please see the staff at the service desk.

To renew your other items, you will need either call us on 03 9925 2020 or email library.notices@rmit.edu.au. Your loans will no longer be automatically renewed until the issue is resolved.

The usual renewal conditions apply.

Yes, if the disputed return item is not overdue, you can place holds online via LibrarySearch. If the item is overdue, Library staff will place the hold for you.

To arrange this, contact us on 03 9925 2020 or email library.notices@rmit.edu.au.

Please note that holds will only be placed for items, which are already on loan or at another Library site. More information about holds is available.

If the item is not found within 28 days (4 weeks), you will need to pay for the replacement. Contact us when you are ready to pay and we will advise you of the cost within 3 working days.

Keep the receipt for your records.

Unfortunately, we cannot accept replacement copies.

The replacement cost is non-refundable, but you keep the item.
