Interlocation enrolment guide – Outbound students

For RMIT Melbourne students who have been approved to undertake study at an RMIT global partner institute.

Information on this page applies to the following global partners:

  • Singapore Institute of Management (SIM)
  • Shanghai University of International Business and Economics (SUIBE)
  • Hong Kong Art School (HKAS)
  • School for Higher and Professional Education (SHAPE)

Before your enrol in courses at the global partner institute, you must:

  • Be active in a Melbourne based RMIT program
  • Have applied for and been accepted for interlocation studies through Global Experience's Mobi system

Enrol via Enrolment Online for the academic year and equivalent semester that you intend to undertake interlocation study. You must complete an enrolment checklist for every year that you study. Enrol in the Melbourne courses equivalent to those that you will be undertaking at the partner institution.

Before your classes start, your Melbourne-based courses will be dropped in the RMIT Melbourne system and replaced by the partner institute equivalent. Their class numbers will differ, although course titles will be the same.

This ensures that your enrolment is correct, your fee arrangements (including HELP loans) are maintained and your overseas studies are correctly represented on your transcript.

Note: if you are undertaking study at SIM, you will have to also enrol via SIM Connect, following instructions emailed to your student email account by SIM staff.

Keep your contact details up to date

It’s important that the contact details on your student record are up to date. Once you’ve found permanent accommodation overseas, update your address by following the instructions to Update your personal details.

To extend your interlocation studies

If you wish to extend your interlocation studies, contact the Global Experience Office.

Keep your contact details up to date

Once you’ve completed your interlocation study, change your mailing address back to your Melbourne residence by following the instructions to Update your personal details.

Transcripts

Your academic transcript will show a note stating that you’ve completed a mobility activity at a global partner institute, together with grades for courses you’ve completed at the global partner institute which will count towards your GPA.
