Culturally Inclusive Teaching: Library Teaching Spotlight

Join us for this session where each presenter will share a key example from their teaching practice followed by a discussion with participants about their own ideas or questions around culturally inclusive practice.

About this event

Dr Amanda White will share her work on the Open Accounting textbook project, which was developed to provide a free and inclusive resource for her undergraduate students, while also meeting personal and institutional objectives to recognise and embrace global knowledges and indigenous knowledges. Paravithra Siriwadhane will share her experience enhancing cross cultural engagement in the theoretical and ethical aspects of accounting practice. Le An will share her experiences integrating ‘serious games’ in classes within units focussed on WIL, Health and Wellness.

Speakers: Assoc. Professor Amanda White (UTS), Paravithra Siriwadhane (RMIT), Le An (RMIT)

Amanda is the Deputy Associate Dean Education (Learner Experience) at the UTS Business School and has been teaching accounting at the university level for almost two decades. Previously, she was Deputy Head Education in the Accounting Department. In 2020, Amanda received the Teaching Excellence Award in the category of Law, Economics, Business and related fields from the Australian Awards for University Teaching.
