The Library provides tools, guidance and training to help researchers understand and demonstrate the reach, engagement and influence of their research. This includes traditional research metrics, online attention indicators, policy citations and other forms of evidence that can support grants, promotion and research impact activities.

If you are applying for academic promotion or making a grant application, we have suggestions on how to demonstrate the impact of your research.

Research evidence for grants and promotions workshop

Applications for grant funding or career advancement may be supplemented with providing evidence of engagement, citations and the influence of your research. A session focused on research evidence can introduce metrics that be used to demonstrate evidence of:

The international engagement of research
Influence of research within a field of research institution or country (benchmarking)
Research published in quality journals
Online attention, policy citations and broader evidence of research engagement beyond scholarly citations.
