A passion for empowering vulnerable communities has fuelled Pham Nhat Nga’s successful career in communications over the past 14 years.

Bachelor of Commerce alumnus, Pham Nhat Nga, was one of the first students to enrol in RMIT Vietnam's Hanoi campus in 2004, going on to be one of its first graduates with distinction three years later.

In 2011, she became the founder and CEO of Creative Solution Consultancy – Creatio, a one-stop-shop creative communications service.

To date, Creatio has serviced over 120 clients from five continents, with a strong focus on projects that champion sustainable and inclusive growth.

Nga’s work with government agencies, civil society organisations and businesses has taken her to some of the most remote communities in Vietnam.

She said it is the impact of her work that has kept her going strong for nearly one and a half decades in the communications field.

“I’ve found that one of the most genuine and direct ways I can give back to vulnerable communities is by organising workshops, events and communications campaigns for them,” Nga said.

“I’m glad to use my knowledge and skills to help them tackle emerging issues such as climate change mitigation, biodiversity conservation and circular economy, to name a few.”

As a female entrepreneur, Nga said she had first-hand experience with the challenges that women face in business.

This motivated her to start an initiative promoting female empowerment in Vietnam, which received a grant from the US embassy in July 2020.

“I am inspired by the talented women around me, and as I got the chance to travel the world, I have witnessed examples of female leadership everywhere,” Nga said.

“It has given me a strong belief in women and our ability to achieve anything we set out to do.”

Starting a business at 25, Nga said she had to assume almost every position in her firm – from accounting and finance, to sales, marketing and human resource management.

“I often joked that CEO meant ‘Chief Everything Officer’ back then,” she said.

“Thankfully, my RMIT degree equipped me with the essential skills to fulfil my roles as both a public relations professional and an entrepreneur.”

Nga’s favourite quote is by American entrepreneur and author, John Rohn, which says ‘if you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.’

“I believe there would be myriad excuses holding us back from persuing our passion, but that’s no reason to give up,” Nga said.

“Instead, we can turn excuses into actions and conquer every obstacle along the way.”
