RMIT Vietnam Pro Vice-Chancellor and General Director Professor Scott Thompson-Whiteside said that the University’s growing alumni community in Europe demonstrates the power that international education has on student experiences and graduates.
“As a leading University of impact in the Asia Pacific region, our promise is to empower people and communities not only in the region but also globally,” he said.
RMIT Vietnam alumnus Vy Lam, now working as a Data Product Manager at Ubisoft’s headquarters in Paris, said that her time at RMIT Vietnam provided her with a foundation for an international career.
"During my time at RMIT Vietnam, I participated in student-run clubs and activities that enabled me to develop the very skillsets of project management that set the course for the career I have today,” Lam said.
Arnaud Melilli, Head of Asia Pacific at Choose Paris Region, said that RMIT alumni and researchers in Europe act as a bridge between the three nations.
“What makes these connections truly meaningful is that they are built on a foundation of education and knowledge exchange,” Melilli said.
The event also featured a special pop-up exhibition curated by RMIT Vietnam fashion students and academics, reflecting on Vietnamese textile traditions and contemporary design.
The exhibition was grounded in the premise of Paris being one of the world’s fashion capitals, as well as the longstanding cultural influence and exchange within the Vietnamese and French fashion sectors.
The event, which was organised by RMIT Europe, was supported by Vietnam Airlines, AB VietFrance, the Victoria State Government, NatureBebe - Bobi Craft and the Australia France Business Association.
As RMIT Vietnam celebrates its 25th anniversary, the University looks forward to strengthening its role as a bridge for people-to-people connections.
This local celebration is part of a series of key events across Vietnam, Australia and Europe.
