SIM delegation visits RMIT Melbourne campus

RMIT recently welcomed a delegation from Singapore Institute of Management Global Education (SIM) to the Melbourne campus, marking the first official visit to the University by SIM Global Education Provost Professor Jorg Bley.

Professor Bley was joined by Mary Lee, Director, Academic Partner Development and Management, and Connie Chow, Assistant Director, Higher Education (RMIT Programs), for a day of meetings and campus activities designed to strengthen the long-standing partnership between the two institutions. 

The visit provided an opportunity to introduce the Provost to RMIT’s leadership, showcase key areas of teaching and research, and reaffirm the longstanding partnership between RMIT and SIM. 

The delegation was welcomed by Professor Alec Cameron, Vice-Chancellor and President of RMIT University, alongside Layton Pike, Vice-President International and colleagues from across the University’s international, academic and engagement teams. 

During the welcome, Professor Cameron reflected on the enduring relationship between the two institutions. 

"After nearly 40 years of friendship and collaboration between our institutions, we hope you feel very much at home," he said.

"We’re proud of our partnership with SIM. It was a foundation stone of transnational education for our University and remains an important partnership as we look to the future."

The program included a series of meetings and tours designed to highlight RMIT’s teaching, research and industry engagement capabilities. The delegation met with senior leaders from the STEM College and College of Business and Law, explored the University’s MarTech initiatives at the EdTech Studio.  

Throughout the day, discussions focused on opportunities to strengthen academic collaboration and enhance the long-standing international partnership between the two institutions. 

The visit concluded with a tour of RMIT’s Discovery to Device (D2D) facility and Advanced Manufacturing Precinct, giving the SIM delegation an opportunity to see firsthand how RMIT connects education, industry and applied research. 

The visit marked an important moment in welcoming Professor Bley in his new role and reaffirmed the strong and enduring relationship between RMIT and SIM.
