‘A skilled hand, a cultivated mind’ is the founding motto of RMIT, and when looking at all that RMIT Culture has to offer, it is evident why this is so pertinent.

RMIT Culture brings together the university’s cultural spaces, creative programs and art, film, design and research collections, providing valuable support for the university’s learning and teaching activities and opportunities to inspire creativity and collaboration.

How well do you know about these nine cultural resources on and off campus? AFI Research Collection, RMIT Design Archives, RMIT Design Hub Gallery, First Site Student Gallery, Intersect, RMIT Art Collection, RMIT Gallery, Writing & Publishing and The Capitol.

To celebrate all that RMIT Culture has to offer, and to arm you with that skilled hand and cultivated mind, we are pleased to announce the launch of a weekly trivia quiz. Over the course of the next nine weeks, we will focus on the fascinating and unusual facts that make each area of RMIT Culture so special.

Each week we will take a deep dive into a different area and bring you a light-hearted interactive quiz that brings to light just a small piece of this vast world, in the hope that you will see RMIT Culture from a fresh perspective and gain some new knowledge along the way. The cultural spaces give so much to students, staff, and the public, so we think that’s something worth celebrating.

To kick things off, we will be starting with The Capitol. This beautiful space has been enjoyed by RMIT staff, students and the public for decades. Originally built in 1924, The Capitol has undergone a thorough modern, state-of-the-art makeover, while still retaining its original charm and beauty.

You may be familiar with the landmark, but do you know who designed the building? Do you know how many lights illuminated the roof? Are you aware of the creative ways The Capitol has adapted to Victoria’s lockdown? Take a look at their website and socials, read through some fun news stories, and come prepared to tackle the 8 questions. All will be revealed next week in The Capitol Culture Quiz.

Above all else, we hope you enjoy yourself and take with you some inspiring knowledge.
