With the health, safety and wellbeing of staff and students our greatest priority, RMIT has outlined Australian campus vaccination requirements for Semester 2.
Through the pandemic, RMIT has closely aligned with government advice.
In mid-April this year, the Victorian Government relaxed many of the state’s COVID restrictions and has announced further changes to come into effect at 11:59pm on Friday 24 June.
In light of these changes, we’ve assessed the new settings, consulted with staff and completed a full risk assessment.
With high vaccination rates of our staff and students and proven safety measures in place, we are confident that we can safely welcome staff and students back to campus for Semester 2.
From Monday 4 July, staff, students and visitors will no longer be required to be vaccinated, or hold a valid medical exemption to attend any RMIT campus or facility. Staff, students and visitors no longer need to show proof of vaccination to attend campus.
Semester 2 COVIDSafe protocols and requirements
We’re committed to providing a COVIDSafe learning and working environment and will keep the following measures in place for Semester 2.
RMIT Public Health team will be responsible for all positive case management, including contact tracing and communications. This will be in place until at least the end of winter.
Mandatory completion of the COVIDSafe Training Module 2022 (swipe card activated upon completion).
Requirement to wear a mask in selected specialist teaching spaces and where physical contact is unavoidable.
Free masks and Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) readily available to staff and students on campus.
Swipe card access for all RMIT buildings – staff and students must carry their ID and swipe to enter any building.
Attendance tracking for all on campus classes.
Provision of hand sanitising and cleaning aids.
Frequent cleaning of high-touch areas and regular clearing for all spaces.
Building ventilation and regular monitoring of air quality.
Students attending Work Integrated Learning (WIL) placements will need to comply with the requirements of their host, which may include masks or vaccination requirements.
