Statement: International education at RMIT

RMIT welcomes the Federal Government’s announcement about international students, and its planned removal of Ministerial Direction 107. This provides important clarity for the sector as we look ahead to 2025 and beyond.

We have received information about our international student number for higher education, which we will review in more detail. As the nation’s largest dual sector university, we await clarity about changes to international student enrolments in vocational education.

International students travel from across the region and the world to undertake high-quality study and research opportunities at RMIT. They have rich backgrounds and experiences, make a valuable contribution to our community and become ambassadors for our great city. We will continue to advocate for them as we work through these changes.

RMIT will continue working constructively with government to strengthen the quality and integrity of the sector.
