RMIT is partnering with the Australian Association of Social Workers for an SDGs focused placement

RMIT is partnering with the Australian Association of Social Workers to undertake a Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Work Integrated Learning placement opportunity.

The social work studio placement offers the opportunity for the next generation of social workers to engage with issues around equality and sustainability. The non-government sector is a key partner in achieving the 2030 goals and as such is it imperative that students are ready for the challenges they will face as new graduates. At the placement, students in groups will begin by undertaking a comprehensive review of the AASW's activities, with a focus on the policy and advocacy actions, and identify how they align with the 17 Goals and 169 targets. The SDGs provide a vital mechanism through which we can collectively address some of the biggest social and environmental challenges. In the process students will identify opportunities for actions in relation to sustainability and provide a report to the organisation with recommendations for future projects. It is then expected that future placements will be able to implement the projects and continue the work.
