Looking after ourselves and each other

Looking after ourselves and each other

Global unrest can be unsettling and upsetting. Make the most of support available.

We understand this might be a difficult time for members of our community, with some feeling the impacts of current global conflicts.

At RMIT University we’re proud of our rich and diverse multi-cultural and multi-faith community.

We provide a variety of services to support your studies and wellbeing during difficult times.

Ask for help

It’s ok to ask for help. As an RMIT student, you can access a range of free wellbeing support.

Wellbeing
  • Student Welfare Advisors: Are trained to provide advice and assistance on a range of matters including finance, accommodation and crisis support. They can also provide referrals to support services outside the University.

  • Safer Community: You can seek support about experiences of violence, sexual harm, concerning, unwanted, uncomfortable or threatening behaviour.

  • Campus Security: RMIT Security is located at RMIT’s City, Brunswick and Bundoora campuses and can respond to emergency situations on campus.

  • Multifaith and Wellbeing Centre: Our multifaith Chaplains can provide individual support and guidance. Or you may like to participate in a mindfulness or labyrinth walking session.

Connection
  • Kirrip: Explore Melbourne, make connections and join chill social activities with RMIT students.

  • Clubs: Student clubs are a great way to make friends outside the classroom and explore your creative, social or other interests with like-minded people.

For more information, go to Health, safety and wellbeing.

If you have any concerns about your studies, please speak with your Program or Course Co-ordinator or HDR Supervisor.

Travel advice

Before considering travel overseas, refer to the advice provided by the Australian government.

The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs’ (DFAT) Smarttraveller website includes latest travel advice and information about countries on DFAT’s “Do not travel” list.

Look out for each other

At all times, but especially now, it’s important to remember to prioritise care and respect in our interactions with each other.

If someone you know is struggling, encourage them to seek support.
