College of Design and Social Context service closures over the summer break

  • The School of Fashion and Textiles will be closed from 5pm Friday 19 December 2025 and reopen Monday 5 January 2026 
  • The School of Property Construction and Project Management will be closed from 5pm Friday 19 December 2025 and reopen Monday 5 January 2026 
  • All other schools under the College of Design and Social Context will close Wednesday 24 December 2025 and reopen Monday 5 January 2026. 

Students can continue to submit enquiries during this time via the Student Connect Portal. The team will respond to enquiries from Monday 5 January 2026 onwards and in-person services will resume once semester starts.

What should I do if I would like to change programs? Current and recent RMIT local students can submit an internal application for a new program. Self-service
I am currently studying a double degree but would like to change to a single degree, how can I do that? You are welcome to apply to change programs. Please search for the program you are interested in via our study with us webpage and apply to RMIT as a local or international student. Self-service
Can I have a program plan created for my studies? Our teams can create a plan for your program (also known as a program map) and send this to you via email. Portal

How do I enrol after the last day to add courses? In special circumstances, you may request permission to add classes after the deadline. Follow the instructions under "Enrolling in classes after the last day to add" on the Change or cancel your enrolment page. Self-service

How do I create my class timetable? You can create and view your class timetable via myTimetable. Self-service
How do I study part-time (reduce my study load)?

Domestic students can study 12-48 credit points per semester. You can change your study load simply by enrolling in fewer or more courses in Enrolment Online. To formally change to a part-time load, please contact us.

International students must study 48 credit points per semester unless they experience compassionate and compelling circumstances. To find out more and apply to reduce your study load, see the Enrolment load requirements for student visa holders page.

How do I enrol in a course that I have not met the pre-requisite for?

When will I be marked as having "completed" my program? Program completion takes place up to two weeks after your final course result release date. For information on when your results are released and how to tell when you’ve been marked as complete in you program, go to the Results page. Self-service
What if I don't want to attend a graduation ceremony? You can choose to graduate at a ceremony or in absentia. Self-service
Can I exit my program early? Depending on the program that you study, you may be able to exit your program early with a lower award. Our teams can assist you with determining your eligibility. Phone or portal

I am not satisfied with my results, how do I appeal them?

If you think you should have received a different grade from the one you got, you should ask for a review with your Course Coordinator or Program Manager within 5 days of your results being released.

If this doesn’t resolve your issue, you may submit a Stage 2 appeal within 20 working days of the publication of your result.

How is my weighted average mark (WAM) calculated?  A weighted average mark (WAM) is only calculated for students enrolled in honours programs. You can view specifics on how your WAM is calculated for the type of program you are studying. Self-service

What’s the difference between an extension and special consideration? Which one should I apply for? RMIT provides a number of "adjustments to assessment" including extensions and special consideration. To be officially identified as making unsatisfactory academic progress, a student needs to meet the criteria in the PDF available on the Academic progress page. If this happens, you'll be advised by email that you are at risk of not meeting the academic requirements of your program.
