Read local and international newspapers through your Library

RMIT users can read a broad range of local and international newspapers for free through the Library. The NewsBank platform offers many titles in various formats for easy access.

Added to our subscriptions in 2025, NewsBank provides access to many news titles in various formats:

  • Full-image (replicates the print reading experience)
  • Web-only content
  • Text access (similar to what we’ve historically provided via ProQuest or Factiva)

These different formats can be hard to distinguish in LibrarySearch, but in NewsBank’s A–Z Source List each title is clearly labelled as text, image or web-only, making it easier to choose the format you need.

Although NewsBank does not have an app for mobile reading, a top tip for reading on the go is to set up a shortcut on your phone's home screen:

  1. Log in to NewsBank via LibrarySearch.
  2. Navigate to a newspaper title landing page (search in A-Z Source List and scroll across to find the required format of text/image/web).
  3. Android: from browser ellipsis ⋮ menu, choose 'add to home screen' OR iPhone: from browser ellipsis ⋯ menu, choose 'share' then 'add to home screen' then 'add'.
