RMIT experts available to comment on 2026 Winter Olympics

The Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games will officially commence on Friday 6 February local time, with 53 athletes representing Australia. RMIT experts are available to comment on a range of topics related to the Games.

Dr Dana McKay, Associate Dean, Interaction, Technology and Information 

Topics: Technologies used at the Winter Olympics including GPS tracking on athletes, a dedicated online fan platform, and AI enabled viewer overlays. Interactions with technology, including privacy issues, social media experiences, and viewer experiences. 

 

Con Stavros, Professor of Marketing 

Topics: Marketing, branding and sponsorship. 

 

Tracy Taylor, Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation 

Topics: Historical aspects related to past Games and IOC, Games hosting and the challenges of having 5 different sites, the ‘hospitality’ side of the Games, inclusion and diversity. 

 

Ky Wynne, Physiotherapy Academic in the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences, Director of Athlete’s Edge Physiotherapy 

Topics: Physiotherapy, sports performance, training and injury rehabilitation, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL)/knee injuries, lower limb injuries, strength and conditioning, endurance running/endurance sports, rehab and performance testing, youth athletes/youth athletic development. 

 

Dr Meg Elkins, Senior Lecturer in Economics  

Topics: Economics of hosting, cultural participation.
