Bachelor of Business Professional Practice - one minor plus electives

Combination 6: Complete one business minor and 96 credit points of Business Course Options*.

If you have a particular area of business that you are interested in but want to learn more about many facets of this discipline, you may be interested in undertaking a degree with one minor and a range of electives.

You will graduate from this degree with the skills you need to make strides toward a varied and exciting career in any industry.

You will undertake*:

  • four (4) core Business Foundation subjects (compulsory for all students) in year 1;
  • four (4) subjects (or 48 credit points) for your minor;
  • 8 Business Course Options (or 96 credit points); 
  • three (3) compulsory Core subjects (36 credit points) in year 2;
  • one (1) compulsory Capstone subject in year 3;
  • 48 credit points worth of University Elective subjects; and
  • 96 credit points in Professional Practice.

*Please note: 

  • you cannot choose the same subject twice, this includes if the subject is taught as part of your major or minor;
  • the Study and Work Minor is not available for selection for 4 year Bachelor of Business (Professional Practice) students as this form part of your compulsory core subjects.
  • you must complete a total of 384 credit points; and
  • the number of subjects quoted above is based on 12 credit points per subject, however some subjects may be 24 to 48 credit points.

Professional Practice Year

In addition to the core and elective subjects listed above, all students will be required to complete a Professional Practice year (96 credit points) in their 4th year of studies. 

Students will start with a core introductory level virtual Impact Academy internship and continue through option choices for alternative or deeper direct internship professional experience with chosen partner or sponsors. 

For most of the direct industry engagement courses, students will be required to source, apply and provide for approval your own placement (paid or unpaid). The one exception is Impact Academy where the industry partners are provided.

Compulsory subjects:

All students must complete four (4) compulsory Business Foundation subjects in year 1:

  • BUSM2562 Global Business Ecosystems (12 credit points)
  • BUSM2577 Integrated Perspectives on Business Problems (12 credit points)
  • BUSM2572 Business in Society (12 credit points)
  • BUSM2567 Business Decision Making (12 credit points)

AND

All students must complete three (3) compulsory Core subjects (36 credit points) in year 2;

  • BUSM2543 Developing Professionally (12 credit points) 
  • BUSM3122 Work, Health, Safety & Wellbeing (12 credit points) 
  • BUSM2623 Impact Academy 1a (12 credit points)

AND

All students must complete one (1) compulsory Capstone subject in year 3:

  • BUSM2582 Business Graduate Folio (12 credit points)

in addition to your chosen subjects.

Business Course Options and University Elective subjects:

You will need to select additional subjects* to reach a total of 384 credit points.

These subjects can be from any business discipline, including a maximum of 48 credit points of University electives.
