This project explores the nature, cost and effectiveness of interventions by management within construction organizations in relation to HIV/AIDS and the barriers to improving them.

Private sector employer involvement in HIV/AIDS management for workers is increasingly necessary in South Africa due to the strain on government health funding and resources.

Work-related stress among construction professionals in South Africa

This project explores the nature, extent, causal factors, effect and coping mechanisms for work-related stress among professionals in several disciplines in the construction industry in South Africa.

The construction industry is renowned as a stressful environment at all levels, with strain effects that can impact severely on work-life balance in terms of family, social and community perspectives.

Job satisfaction of South African quantity surveyors

This project used web-survey techniques to explore aspects of job satisfaction among professional quantity surveyors in South Africa.

Employee job satisfaction is increasingly a matter of concern for employers. A web-based national questionnaire survey of the opinions of registered South African quantity surveyors was undertaken to measure factors including: job satisfaction, choice of career, gender and race in the workplace and harassment and discrimination at work.
