Shocks and Development

Countries throughout the world are increasingly vulnerable to shocks.

These unexpected events can have a huge impact on development. They include health shocks such as COVID-19, economic shocks like the current global recession and climatic shocks such as storms, floods and droughts. CID researchers have examined how such shocks impact on human well-being and development.
