Interventions for Social Justice: Challenges for Social Change

In the rapidly evolving global landscape, the pursuit of social justice requires new and multifaceted approaches to ensure peaceful and empowering development for all.

The RMIT Social & Global Studies Centre begins its 2020 Seminar Series on World Day of Social Justice, welcoming three vital advocates for social change, Vedran Drakulic (Adjunct Professor SGSC, Gandel Philanthropy), Roj Amedi (Justice Connect, HRAFF) and Fiona Rigney (Knowmore Legal Service, Melbourne University).   The advancement of social justice is reliant on individuals and organisations who take action that leads to larger change in local, national and global communities. Action that can grow from a call to a movement to the new norm.

Today, inventions are needed to transform a wide spectrum of injustices and honour inclusivity, protection and fair outcomes regardless of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, sexuality or disability.  Join us as our speakers discuss their experience working for social justice, and the influence that policy and practice has on this work. They will share the challenges they have faced in their advocacy and activism and where they see hope for delivering lasting social change.
