Customer Vulnerability Symposium: Rethinking and Reshaping - Hybrid Event

The Australian Association of Social Marketing, Consumer Wellbeing Research Group, RMIT University, and the BEST Centre, QUT are pleased to host the 1st Australian Customer Vulnerability Symposium on Friday April 28th, 2023, at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia (Hybrid mode - Face-to-face or Online).

Across a full day, the customer vulnerability symposium will feature keynote speakers, workshops and panel sessions.

Our goal for the symposium is to challenge assumptions and engage in dialogue to address significant challenges faced by academia, government, and industry working with customers or clients whom experience vulnerability.

Showcasing cross-cutting edge research and the work of high profile thought leaders in this space, attendees will have the opportunity to connect and walk away with fresh perspectives and guidance on working with customers or clients whom experience vulnerability. View here for more details and draft Symposium Program.

Participants (face-to-face) can choose to showcase their work in a Poster Presentation. A poster presentation is one in which information is summarized using texts and images and presented in a poster format. The Poster Sessions are scheduled for Friday, 28th April in the main area of the symposium.

There will be a Networking and Refreshments function after the symposium that participants can choose to join.

The symposium will have a session with three workshops held at the time. Participants will attend one of the workshops. Online participants will join Workshop 3 that is held online.

  • Workshop 1 (Held Face-to-face): How to respectfully include First Nations voices and perspectives when developing and implementing customer or client vulnerability protocols and guidelines.
  • Workshop 2 (Held Face-to-face): Understanding Unconscious bias (Limited to 28 participants due to lab capacity).
  • Workshop 3 (Held Online): Codesign with customers or clients experiencing vulnerability.
