McCraith House Creative Residency Program

RMIT Culture's McCraith House Creative Residency Program offers independent creatives space and time to immerse themselves in their practice whilst being surrounded by the beauty of the Mornington Peninsula.

Residencies are awarded to participants in collaboration with partners to artists, writers, or arts workers, supporting the creative sector. Residencies at McCraith House are established around; strategic partnerships; diversity of voice, form and discipline; potential for public outcomes, and attached to strategic creative projects.

Residencies are attached to a number of industry partnerships including:

  • An annual First Nations residency in collaboration with Blak & Bright Festival (undertaken in 2022 by Claire G. Coleman)
  • A collaboration with the Victorian Premier's Literary Awards annually awarded to the winner of the Unpublished Manuscript Award (Keshe Chow - 2022 and Mick Cummins - 2023)
  • Screen Australia's Gender Matters program, in collaboration with the School of Media and Communication - championing women in film
  • Birrarangga Film Festival Emerging First Nations Filmmaker Residency
  • Footscray Community Arts Centre, Emerging Creative Leaders Residency
