About
Dr. Geetika is a Lecturer in Mathematics and Cybersecurity in School of Science at RMIT University STEM College.
Dr. Verma holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics and brings over 16 years of experience in higher education across teaching, curriculum innovation, and research. Following her Ph.D., she undertook a Postdoctoral Research Fellowship at the University of South Australia (2016–2019), where she worked on the Australian Research Council (ARC) Discovery Project DP160101236, conducting research in functional analysis and operator theory.
Dr. Verma's research interests span functional and harmonic analysis, cryptography, data modelling, and interdisciplinary applications of mathematics. She is passionate about delivering innovative, industry-connected education through Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), developing authentic learning experiences, and supervising higher degree research students. Her contributions to education and student success have been recognised through multiple prestigious awards, including the 2024 AISA Cybersecurity Educator of the Year, the 2024 RMIT Vice-Chancellor's Award for Initiatives that Enhance Learning, and several RMIT STEM College teaching excellence awards.
Beyond her teaching and research, Dr. Verma is actively engaged in the Australian mathematical community through professional leadership and service. She is also an active member of the Women in Mathematics Special Interest Group (WIMSIG).
