The ALCRN is a joint initiative between RMIT University and Mykolas Romeris University. The Network launched in February 2022, with the goal to connect cyber security researchers, students and industry & government practitioners working on and/or interested in Australia and Lithuania.
The first intiaitive of the ALCRN is the launch of the Hybrid Threat Centre.
Hybrid threats are state and non-state actors that are challenging countries and institutions they see as a threat, opponent or competitor to their interests and goals with a focus on disputing industry and society. This is the first national Hybrid Threat Centre in Australia.
The Australian – Lithuanian Hybrid Threat Centre will:
The recent sabotage of the Nord Stream pipeline, a key piece of critical infrastructure in which Europe energy sector depends, highlights the requirement to prioritise security underwater infrastructure.
Promote increased awareness and understanding of the state of cybersecurity and associated issues within the network, as well as more broadly within Australian and Lithuanian society.
Support Australia and Lithuanian Cyber activities by sharing knowledge, skills, expertise, experiences, plans, policies, procedures and practices.
Conduct joint research as required on identified cybersecurity trends, risks, threats, impacts and controls as well as future disruptions. The cyber research would relate to the organisational, human, technical and legal aspects of Cyber Security, including cyber threats and influence on a democratic society.
Publish and make available any artefacts produced by the Network for reference.
Promote co-operation and collaboration between Australia and Lithuania.
