Rosa Menkman 'Refractions of Light & Time'

Join visiting Dutch artist and researcher Rosa Menkman for an exciting performative lecture of 'Refractions of Light and Time'.

Menkman is known for her trailblazing work in the Glitch art movement since her seminal self-portrait 'Vernacular of File Formats' attained cult status. Her contributions to media theory are significant, exploring the cultural implications of media resolution standards, with a focus on glitches, cyclops, impossible rainbows and unnamed colour. Menkman's work spans the mythological, the historical, and the folkloric, in fresh and exciting ways.

During this special lunchtime lecture, Menkman will present her mixed media work that surveys the Cyclop's Cave in Cypress. Since 2022, Menkman has been travelling the Mediterranean to learn about three Cyclopes lineages. Cyclopes are famous mythical creatures, known for their gargantuan physique and single round eye. Menkman will elaborate on both the mythical and the real aspects of these mysterious phenomenon.
