Hong Kong graduation - celebrating student achievement and fostering collaboration

RMIT University marked a significant milestone in Hong Kong over the weekend, conferring degrees on more than 120 graduates through our long running transnational education partnerships with the Hong Kong Arts Centre (HKAC), VTC SHAPE and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.

Twenty-two students were awarded Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) degrees, adding to the more than 1,100 graduates produced in collaboration with HKAC over the last 27 years.  

The VTC SHAPE partnership saw over 170 students graduate across five disciplines, highlighting a relationship that has contributed over 3,700 professionals to key sectors such as engineering, aviation and construction management. Eight students completed the Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) in association with Mandarin Oriental, reflecting continued investment in industry-led education.

Following the ceremony, RMIT hosted a luncheon bringing together university leaders, partners and guests for an afternoon of connection. The event featured remarks from RMIT Chancellor Peggy O’Neal AO and Australian Consul-General Mr Gareth Williams, who acknowledged the strong connections between Australia and Hong Kong SAR in education and industry. 

Professor Catherine Itsiopoulos, Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor STEM College and Vice-President RMIT University and Professor Barley Mak, School Director of Hong Kong Art School, Hong Kong Arts Centre shared an engaging conversation centred on AI and emerging technologies and the ways in which they present both challenges and opportunities in education.
