Who is O Week for?

O Week is for students new to RMIT in Semester 2 2026. It’s the best way to get familiar with campus, learn where to find support and services, meet other students, and get a feel for student life through social, cultural and academic activities.

How do I register for events?

Starting in Semester 2? Keep an eye on your RMIT inbox for your O Week invite — plus the chance to customise your Orientation with extra activities and events.

Make sure you’ve accessed your RMIT email, as all registration information will be sent there.

  • HE students are usually studying Bachelor, Honours, Masters, Graduate Diplomas, Graduate Certificates or PhD programs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Enjoy your start to uni life by engaging in the three elements of Orientation:

  • Complete How2RMIT – an online onboarding module designed to help you get set up and prepared for RMIT life.
  • Attend your program induction – Learn about your program structure and requirements, meet academic staff, peers and more. You’ll be auto registered so check your RMIT email for your confirmation.
  • Go to O Week events – Explore campus, meet other students and enjoy tours, free food and connect with support services while personalising your own orientation experience

Engaging in the three parts of Orientation (How2RMIT, program inductions and O Week) isn’t compulsory and won’t affect your enrolment status. However, we highly recommend taking part in all three. The activities and experiences are a rite of passage for new students and a great way to get to know the vibrant RMIT community. It’s also a chance to meet people and make friends.

Orientation is also when you’ll receive essential information and support to help you settle in and succeed from day one.

You can choose which days you want to attend O Week. You’re welcome to come along each day to explore campus and meet people, but the activities you take part in are completely up to you.

Just make sure you’re registered for the events you want to attend see: “How do I register to events?” for steps on how registration works.

How2RMIT is an online onboarding module that gives you a complete overview of RMIT’s systems, support services, facilities, and more. It’s a one-stop source of all the information you’ll need to set yourself up for study and life at RMIT.

The module is conveniently located on your Canvas dashboard and can be completed in your own time. You’ll also be able to re-visit the information whenever you need it.

Most sessions are delivered in person however some program inductions are available in online or hybrid delivery format.

Orientation and induction communications are emailed to your RMIT email. If you have not accessed your RMIT email yet, click here.

Some students who have recently studied at RMIT or who have changed programs may receive induction communications a little later. If you have enrolled but not received your program induction details yet check the program induction page for your session information.

If your session is still missing, or you have not received information about your program induction by Thursday 19 February, please contact Student Connect

O Week is designed for enrolled students. However, we recognise that some students may need or prefer to attend with a support person, and you are welcome to do so. If a friend or family member is acting as your support person, they are also welcome.

If you need advice or additional support, please contact Student Connect.
